We're back at it, the TreeHouse meets the roster series is back in full swing, as today we have a dope Q&A for our amazing THV audience. thehomie is a DJ/Director of Art and has self-titled his style and sound as 'move music' and thats exactly what it is. His remixes illustrate the meshing of two different styles to create one vibe. The unique and super creative ability to mix well known vocals from Trap, Hip-Hop, Soul and more with Future Beats, is done in a way that can only be described as visionary. It is a pleasure to have such originality within our ranks and we snapped up the oportunity to officially add Miguel to the family. As you know the deal by now, we always want to introduce and showcase talent to the world, so here is our introduction to TreeHouse's very own thehomie.
TreeHouse Vibes x thehomie. Interview
TREEHOUSE: Yo fam could you introduce yourself, and tell us where you are from?
THEHOMIE: Yo, my name is Miguel Brazier, I’m 22 years old, and um...I don’t know myself. I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, I moved around a lot because my dad was like in the army. But yeah, we moved around a lot and now I’m here.
TREEHOUSE: When and why did you start making music?
THEHOMIE: I’d probably say I started when I was 17. I don’t know why, probably because a lot of my friends around me started making music and were fuckin with music. So I don’t know it just stuck to me I guess.
TREEHOUSE: What kind of sound or style would you say you have?
THEHOMIE: I don’t know, I don’t like to like label my music, but when I come across a question like this I like to just call it “move music”. When people hear the music, I want them to just get up and dance. Just something you can listen to, so I guess I’d just call it move music.
TREEHOUSE: Who are your influences?
THEHOMIE: My influences at this moment in my life, um…damn…my mom most definitely, big influence on a lot of aspects of my life; My girlfriend, because she helps me make better decisions life wise, I don’t know probably my sister she’s just like me. I’m just glad she’s like me but like in a different aspect. She’s a little bit smarter, I’m just glad she’s where she’s at in life. Definitely my nigga twin, because that dude’s a hard working dude, and that’s my nigga. And that nigga young thug, he’s cool.
TREEHOUSE: What's one thing you can't live without?
THEHOMIE: One thing I can’t live without right now in this moment, 2016? I would definitely have to say my computer right now. It’s just were all my stuff is created. I mean I guess I wouldn’t say the most important thing in the world, but you know, that’s the first thing that came to my head.
TREEHOUSE: Yeah I feel you, ok so what's one thing on your life bucket list?
THEHOMIE: Okay now were on question 6, okay now I’m getting a little bit drunker. What’s the question? One thing on my bucket list, shit…one thing on my fucking bucket list is to pitch a story to Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, or maybe Clint Eastwood.
TREEHOUSE: Haha I think I’m joining you at that pitch! What’s your favourite track right now?
THEHOMIE: My favourite track right now is most definitely that Kanye West shit ‘Real Friends’ that shit came out of nowhere. I think it’s cool he’s doing ‘Good Friday’s’ again.
TREEHOUSE: Yeah he killed it with that track, feeling like old-school ‘Ye’. Talking of Kanye and musical genius, what is one instrument you wish you could play?
THEHOMIE: The drums, dude. I’ve been wanting to play the drums since I was in like 7th grade, listening to like Fallout Boy and All American Rejects, Afi, Panic at the disco, the list goes on.
TREEHOUSE: Move music, that’s spot on! Where is your favourite place in the world?
THEHOMIE: I’d have to say Panama, like Central America. I was little when I was there but it was nice, everything was out in the open. There were like iguanas, monkeys and shit at the park.
TREEHOUSE: Other passions beside music?
THEHOMIE: I’m into skateboarding somewhat, I’ve been into skateboarding since high school. Soccer for sure, soccer is just so beautiful I love it. And I guess you could say I like collecting things, cool little shit like I don’t know plants and action figures..
TREEHOUSE: What can you tell us about future projects?
THEHOMIE: I guess I don’t have to keep it too low key. Me and one of the homies I met on Soundcloud, Duncan Gerow, we got a 4 track blend ep called ‘Rapper Faces’ due to be released soon. We mixed up bigger main stream artists with the future beats sound. I guess you could say there will be some kind of bounce in there too, look out for that!
TREEHOUSE: What do you think of the growing future beats scene right now?
THEHOMIE: I feel like the whole future beats thing is going to be big in the mainstream, I’m just a big fan. There is so many little artists doing it and it’s like everywhere. Why not listen to it? I like it, I love it.
TREEHOUSE: Name one artist or collective who you want to point out for 2016?
THEHOMIE: I would most definitely point out, Alex Kidd, he’s a rapper from South Florida, Orlando. He’s actually got a project called the art of daydreamer, so I feel like everybody should get in touch with that dude because that dude is speaking some deep, pimpin shit.
TREEHOUSE: Who would you love to work with dead or alive?
THEHOMIE: Most definitely 10 times out of 10, fucking Rod Stewart. I’d do anything, well not anything but you know, anything with that dude. That dude is just all around fucking great.
We want to formerly welcome thehomie. to the THV family. Its a honour for me to be able to connect and work with such passionate creatives. Look out for thehomie featuring on our debut compilation(WTTTH) out in a couple weeks!
