I came across 3lo a few months ago on one of my normal SoundCloud surfs and instantly was hooked on the trio of talented producers, take on creating future soul. Based in Atlanta, and Orlando in the US, their music as a collective is pure, musical and melodic. With quality previous releases such as; Northside Girls w/ Atlas Greene, Can I Have It, & You Know w/ VALENTINE. A following has started to build around the guys and 3lo are taking this opportunity to showcase their ability with a string of releases over next week or so. Previous releases include features on Chill Trap Records, Future Factory, NIGHTSHADE and Phuture Collective.

3lo, actually consists of three individuals, Mikal Mancini, Tobi Korede and John Adams. They were all musicians playing in church, local bands, the high school drum-line, the high school orchestra etc., before meeting each other via a producer forum on Facebook in July 2015. John and Tobi live in Atlanta, GA and Mikal lives in Orlando, FL.

We have enjoyed working with the guys, and introduce to our audience an exclusive track release from 3lo on TreeHouse Vibes. Also a TreeHouse Meets Interview with 3lo, discussing life, music and future projects.

TreeHouse meets 3lo – Interview

TREEHOUSE: Yo guys, could you introduce yourselves, and tell us where you are from?

3LO: Hi, we’re 3lo! We are from Atlanta and Orlando.

TREEHOUSE: When and why did you start making music together?

3LO: We started making music together in July of 2015 after meeting on a music production forum. After shooting ideas back and forth, we just had a natural flow together and the music just happened.

TREEHOUSE: What kind of sound or style would you say you have?

3LO: Mikal brings a lot of classical and jazz elements to the table because of his background whereas Tobi and John bring a lot of sounds inspired by ATL-based hip hop. Collectively, our sound has been described as Future Soul.

TREEHOUSE: Met via a producer forum and releasing music through soundcloud, How much would you say the internet and social media helps musicians these days?

3LO: It helps tremendously. The scene wouldn’t exist without it and half of us learned a lot of the basics music production by watching YouTube videos. Other producers, like Ekali, use sites like reddit to help aspiring producers too.

Even being able to collaborate with another musician on the other side of the world in a moments notice is huge and a lot can be learned by working with new people that you would have never worked with before if it wasn’t for the internet.

TREEHOUSE: Love your track 'You Know' with Valentine, how did you guys come together?

3LO: He liked our track 5:30 a.m. so much that he created his own version of the original track (The Hills) and that same producer forum brought us together. Now we’re in the same collective.
