TreeHouse Vibes has recently received the amazing chance to interview one of our new emerging talents 'Bear'. The singer/songwriter and all round musician has adopted quite a unique sound, blending 80's thriller Synthpop with R&B vocals in one of his latest tracks 'codependant'. Also a DJ going by the name of 'Glockocean' this artist shows his versisitlity and range. Let's not forget his single 'not aware', which is certainly another track that I was bopping my head instantly to as the intro builds you up for them slick notes that he delivers. It's only a preview but what a trailer it is as I noticed whilst writing this that, hey... I want to hear the rest!
TreeHouse Vibes x BEAR - Interview:
TREEHOUSE: Introduce yourself, and where you are from?
GLOCKOCEAN: My name is Adam. I'm from Miami, FL. I go by 'Bear' and 'glockocean', for my DJ stuff.
TREEHOUSE: When did you start making music?
GLOCKOCEAN: When did I start...I've had an interest in music since I was just a youngin' but I guess I didn't really pick it up until about 2010 -2011
TREEHOUSE: What kind of sound would you say you have?
GLOCKOCEAN: I would say I have a "wavy" sound (free Max B) mixed with pop and R&B influences. But it's always changing.
TREEHOUSE: Favourite place in the world?
GLOCKOCEAN: My favourite place in the world has to be the beach. A lot of my best ideas came from being on shore, staring out at the water.
TREEHOUSE: What's one thing you have to do before you die?
GLOCKOCEAN: - I've never been skydiving[laughs]. I'd like to try that before I go.
TREEHOUSE: Favourite track right now?
GLOCKOCEAN: Ah, my favourite tracks are always changing. I've had 1998 by Chet Faker featuring Banks in rotation lately, and Down In Flames by Cleopold. That Night, off Toro Y Moi's "Samantha" also. It get's played twice minimum every time.
TREEHOUSE: One instrument you wish you could play?
GLOCKOCEAN: One instrument I've always wanted to learn would have to be the saxophone. It's such a suave and romantic instrument, and it seems like it takes true skill to master.
TREEHOUSE: Where would you want to do your first show overseas?
GLOCKOCEAN: Dreams of playing a show in Tokyo. Or somewhere in France.
TREEHOUSE: Who are your influences?
GLOCKOCEAN: There isn't really one person who influences me, but certain elements in music really push me to progress. A lot of jazz, indie pop, and underground electronic music. My mother always had r&b, soul or gospel music playing and I feel like that stuck with me too when I started to make my own stuff.
TREEHOUSE: Other passions beside music?
GLOCKOCEAN: I'm really such a music nerd, but outside of that I write, draw, and just constantly studying the creative industry. There are so many facets to being a creator and I'm interested in learning about all of them
TREEHOUSE: What can you tell us about future projects?
GLOCKOCEAN: Expect change with my future projects. Heavy pop influences. Memories of sunny days with friends, or your lover. Just keep your eyes and ears peeled for what's next.
TREEHOUSE: Last but not least, who would you love to work with dead or alive?
GLOCKOCEAN: I'd love to work with Toro Y Moi, Kali Uchis, The female singer from Tennis, Morrissey, Amy Winehouse (R.I.P.) honestly this list could go on forever. There's a lot, and they're all legends in their own right
