I’ve been feeling quite humbled this week. TreeHouse Vibes received word from the ground-breaking new collective and label – Fête. I was informed by the founders of Fête that they were due to release a 1K Compilation project with the collaboration DOPEMAG, which is massive for a new label to already be getting noticed with such movements so early in their come-up.
FÊTE x DOPEMAG - 1K COMPILATION
I was sent a private link to the project and also got to interview the lads and find out a bit more about the origin of the label and also details of their location, influences and how the compilation came about. Before I continue, the compilation is soooo refreshing and futuristic, I think we definitely have some new kids on the block that should be watched very closely.
TREEHOUSE: SO COULD YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELVES AND TELL US WHERE YOU’RE FROM?
FÊTE: We are the founders of Fête, Robert Augustine and Abhimanyu Janamanchi. We're both students at Wesleyan University in CT, and currently reside in the DC area. In our free time we love to do social activism work, hangout, and DJ. We actually just had our first local show last night.
TREEHOUSE: WHO ARE YOUR INFLUENCES?
FÊTE: We love the Soulection crew, and a dream of ours is to do a collaborative release with them. Film Noir is also an amazing collective with a super bright future ahead of them.
Also, the greats that are pretty cliche nowadays: Kanye, Pharrell, J dilla. As far as emerging artists, we love; Kaytranada, Sam Gellaitry, POMO, Bryson Tiller, J LOUIS, Mr. Carmack, Chris Mclenney, MASEGO, and the list goes on and on.
TREEHOUSE: WHO IS FÊTE, AND WHEN DID YOU START?
FÊTE: We've been running now for about a month and a half, and have already received considerable attention from producers on Film Noir, Moving Castle, Soulection, First Ear, and Souletiquette.
We strive to put out the best in "future/contemporary" oriented music.
We try not to be limited to any particular genre, and believe that sometimes the best music is sort of a mixing pot of different genres, for instance hip-hop being a combination of blues, jazz, sals, etc.
TREEHOUSE: WHAT TYPE OF CREATIVES CAN WE FIND ON THE ROSTER?
FÊTE: Currently we're the home to about 40 producers from all over the world. Countries such as France, Denmark, Tanzania, Germany, Columbia, Estonia and all over the USA.
We emphasize a very family like atmosphere when it comes to the collective, and want everyone to have an equal shot.
TREEHOUSE: SO HOW DID THE COMPILATION COME ABOUT?
FÊTE: We've been working on this for about a month now, and recruiting a variety of producers for the job, all of which are members of the collective. DOPEMAG hit us up after we had been running for only a few weeks because of the amount of attention we received in such a short time, also because we're both collectives based in the DC area.
So you can tell already that Fête are here to stay. Not to forget the amazing group of creatives that are DOPEMAG, I really do look up to what they are doing, the authenticity and truth to their journey. Fete are doing big things and connecting with DOPEMAG illustrates exactly that statement. DOPEMAG is definitely a movement to be apart of, so make sure you check them out on; Twitter, SoundCloud, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and all of the social media sites. It’s worth the time; I’m going to leave links below.
It was a pleasure to connect with these guys, and to be honest I was listening to the compilation while I wrote this, I was partying the whole way through. One of the best projects I’ve heard this year and I don’t just throw those compliments out to anyone. Fete have put their marker down for the future and their electronic infused sound is what our ears all need to be hearing more often. From all of us TreeHousians we say Fête are definite are type of vibe, they have an amazing sound and an even brighter future.
